According to reports, Vybz Kartel and a person who was accused of the crime with him has been granted a conditional temporary leave to appeal a murder conviction. The announcement was made on Tuesday, and Vybz along with Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John will reportedly have 90 days to submit documents in their case that will be presented to the UK Privy Council.
The Justice on the case—Nicole Simmonds, ruled in favor of Kartel and the co-defendants motion to leave the court’s handling of fresh evidence. This comes after news surfaced noting one of the members of the jury was reportedly corrupt. Simmonds spoke on the matter, saying “The trial judge’s management of the issue of jury impropriety that occurred during the course of the trial, in particular, a procedure that was adopted and the extent of the inquiry that was conducted. Two, the trial judge’s refusal discharge a jury or any juror following his inquiry into the issue of jury impropriety." Stay tuned for more details in this case.
