Project Review: Mind Of Stoney

Brooklyn’s own Frank Stoney is back with his latest project, Mind Of Stoney, showing off how he’s grown from being an actor to a full-on artist. After seven years in music, with a foot in both acting and the rap game, Stoney’s unique mix of energy and laid-back vibes feels real and fresh.

Starting with the track “Peace,” Stoney sets the tone with confidence, dropping his signature “ouii” ad-lib and spitting bars that are all about ambition. Lines like “I run it up and I fuck it up” hit hard, pushing you to go after your dreams without holding back. It’s a strong opener that makes it clear Stoney means business.

Then there's “Energy,” where Stoney’s playful, flirty side takes center stage. With lyrics like “Frequencies is hitting, can you feel the vibrations?” paired with some spicy, X-rated content, this track leaves a mark. The autotuned ending, along with that classic ad-lib, makes it catchy and fun.

Next, “Burkin” dives into relationships and desires with a hook that’s bold and unapologetic: “She want a Burkin and he wants some throat.” It’s direct and entertaining, making it clear Stoney isn’t afraid to keep it real about luxury and lust.

“Saturday Morning” featuring SURFBOYMAXX brings a Travis Scott-like vibe that feels fresh and lively. With lines like “Told her don’t call me daddy, call me your majesty,” Stoney shows off his confidence. This track has the potential to be a hit, especially with its festival-ready energy.

“Paradise,” featuring Wave9forever, takes things down a notch with a chill, beachy vibe. Wave9forever’s smooth flow over the beat makes this one perfect for those laid-back days. The hook sticks with you, showing just how catchy this track is.

“Addiction” goes deeper, touching on personal struggles and questioning flaws in a relationship. It’s a reflective track that stands out from the more playful or explicit songs on the album. Stoney’s lyrics here are vivid, painting a clear picture of emotional depth.

The project wraps up with “Blessed” featuring z33, bringing the album full circle with a rags-to-riches vibe. This collab adds a sense of gratitude and reflection, ending the album on a high note.

All in all, Mind Of Stoney proves Frank Stoney’s got creativity and range. With fire production from @jhenetics, @iamrafaelbeats, @worldwarlean, and @bryanfiji, plus solid features, Stoney’s made a project that hits on different levels. His ability to blend raw, honest lyrics with playful energy shows he knows his craft. For anyone into hip-hop with a touch of R&B, this album is worth checking out. Frank Stoney isn’t just making noise; he’s here to stay.
