A social media influencer has died after her ex-husband poured petrol on her and lit a match during a live broadcast, according to reports.
During her live stream, the screen is said to have gone, ‘black’ and her screams could be heard in the background.
Her ex-husband, identified only by his surname Tang, allegedly broken into her house in September armed with a can of petrol and a knife and attacked her in front of her family members.
The influencer suffered burns on 90% of her body and died 2-weeks after the attack.
The woman named as Lamu, 30, from China’s Sichuan province, was known for her posts on rural life which had millions of likes on TikTok.
Reports from Chinese media suggested that Tang was seeking revenge on Lamu because she had initiated their divorce due to domestic violence.
The couple who were married for 10-years had two children aged 12 and 3.
Lamu was a popular Tibetan video vlogger who lived in the mountainous prefecture of Aba in western China’s Sichuan Province.
She had amassed more than 800,000 followers.
A crowdfund was set up to help the family and one million Chinese Yuan / £114,280 was raised in 24 hours, according to news reports.
Her case has prompted a huge discussion on China’s social media site Weibo where more than 70 million people have used a hashtag mentioning her death.
