It's been previously reported that the USPS will be shutting down and removing mail sorting machines that are needed to process absentee ballots for the upcoming 2020 election.
United States Postal Services spokesperson, Rod Spurgeon, “We are not going to be removing any boxes. After the election, we’re going to take a look at operations and see what we need and don’t need.”
This is just shortly after the USPS stated that they will be moving all mailboxes to higher volume areas.
