Kyle Rittenhouse's bail was set at $2 million on Monday. The Illinois teenager made his first appearance in a Wisconsin court since being accused of killing two men during protests in Kenosha.
Rittenhouse's lawyers unsuccessfully fought to prevent their client from facing his charges in Wisconsin after spending almost the past two months in an Illinois detention center. After Monday's hearing, Rittenhouse remained in custody as bail had not been posted.
One of the victim's father spoke out against Rittenhouse receiving bail and labeled him a flight risk.
"Kyle Rittenhouse thinks he's above the law and he's been treated as such by law enforcement," said John Huber, the father of Anthony M. Huber.
The 17-year-old has been charged with six criminal counts, including first-degree intentional homicide.
