The World's Last Blockbuster Is Now An AirBnb Rental


In Bend, Oregon, where the World's last Blockbuster movie rental is located is now an Airbnb rental.


If you're a millennial, then you definitely remember the nostalgia of being excited for the weekend so you and your family, or even your friends can go to Blockbuster to rental the hottest and latest movies and walking to the register to buy candy.


Well, to all movie lovers, beginning August 17, 2020 the last Blockbuster on earth is allowing local residents to book a one-night stay between September 18-20.


Airbnb tweeted "...cause the last BLOCKBUSTER in the world will be offering movie lovers in Bend a 90's themed sleepover for a limited time only. only on Airbnb. who's down?"


On Airbnb's website it states that the rental is only $4 per night and listed as “End of Summer Sleepover at the Last Blockbuster”. Followed by, "Hey Deschutes County residents! Dust off those membership cards for a sleepover inside the world’s last Blockbuster,” the listing reads. “When you call dibs on this stay, you’re booking a night back in the 90s, but this time you won’t have to beg your parents to rent the latest horror flick—we’ll give you the keys to the entire store!"


Sarah Harding, the Blockbuster manager says "As the last standing location in the world, our Blockbuster store is an ode to movie magic, simpler times and the sense of community that could once be found in Blockbuster locations around the world, Over the past few months, we’ve been missing the regular visits from friends, neighbors and tourists from around the world. So, we’re opening our store to three quarantine pods of Deschutes County guests for a socially-distanced movie night, just like those of decades past!"


Guests will be provided with a pack of face coverings, disinfectant wipes, and hand sanitizer during their visit. Sarah Harding will be cleaning out the rental after each night in accordance with CDC guidelines. Along with that, guests will be given access to the store's entire movie library, as well as a pull-out couch, bean bags, and snacks like popcorn, Raisinets and Nerds for the lucky guests ready to pull an all-nighter. 


When the final guests concludes their stay, other local residents will be able to take on the opportunity for a limited time.
