Man That Went Viral On TikTok For "Playing Dead" Has Landed A "CSI: Vegas" Acting Gig

Since October 2021, Josh Nalley, of Kentucky has been filming himself played dead, that's right, he's been playing dead on TikTok for the last year. Gaining over 4.6 million views, people have seen him in various self-created scenes, such as his home, creeks, abandoned buildings, on the side of the road and many more places acting as an unalived corpse.

Nalley would caption each video with the day, followed by "Until I'm cast in a movie or TV show as an un-alive body."

"I got an email from CBS that said they'd seen me on TikTok and wanted to offer me the part. At first I didn't believe it, but they flew me out to California. It turned out that Mario Van Peebles was the director for that episode so besides getting cast in the show, I also got to meet him, which was great." Nalley told the Courier Journal.

Nalley says that he got the idea from seeing a woman post different hot sauces every day until she landed a partnership with a hot sauce company. ""I figured that was the easiest way that I could actually get onto a TV show or movie, you know, without actually having to audition or move out of Kentucky," said Nalley.

Josh Nalley, a restaurant manager will appeared in the Nov. 3 episode of CSI: Vegas, which starred Paula Newsome, Mandeep Dhillon, Marg Helgenberger, and William Petersen. Showrunner Jason Tracey told Entertainment Weekly that the appearance proved that Josh was a "pro at this death thing. Rarely do we find an actor as well prepared to play a corpse as Josh," he said. "It was a pleasure watching him work."

While Josh has gotten offers to appear in music videos and independent films as a corpse, Nalley has his sights set on the next big step in his acting career. "Maybe one day, getting a speaking role," he said.
