A former Houston Texas Civil Court Judge by the name of Alexandra Smoots-Thomas has been arrested and charged for allegedly shooting at estranged husbands girlfriend.
Smoots-Thomas is no newbie to criminal acts, in fact, sources say she was suspended last year after being charged with 10 counts of wire fraud for spending nearly $25,000 in campaign funds between January 2016 and March 2017. Allegedly, she used campaign funds on jewelry, luxury items, her mortgage payments, and a plethora of other things for her personal use. However, Smoots-Thomas continued to campaign to be re-elected, where she lost, in July.
Following the former civil court judge's loss for re-election, Smoots-Thomas is now facing felony charges after arriving at her estranged husband's girlfriend's home and shooting at her. Sources say that the former judge was in the woman’s driveway honking and causing a disturbance. The girlfriend came out of the house with a board to knock the gun Smoots-Thomas was pointing at her out of the judge's hand. When the girlfriend made the attempt to knock the gun away, Smoots-Thomas fired three shots and fled the scene.
Kent Schaffer, Smoots-Thomas' attorney states, "My client was in a car and the other woman was outside the car. I believe she was carrying a club or some sort of stick with the intent to assault my client and a gun appeared. A shot was fired but nobody was hurt."
For the former Judge, she is now arrested and charged with a $10,000 bond.
