James Harden Reportedly Wants Out of Houston Due to Owner's Trump Support

Previously, it was revealed that James Harden turned down a $50 million extension with the Houston Rockets, and it was noted the player thinks his best opportunity to win a championship will come if he’s able to play for the Brooklyn Nets. However, reports surfaced noting that another reason for Harden’s desire to leave may stem from the team owner’s major support of Donald Trump.

Via ‘The Odd Couple’ podcast, NBA insider Ric Bucher claims that Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta’s affiliation with the Republican Party and Trump have caused a divide within the Rockets’ organization. Bucher said, “What I heard is, and we know how much politics and political position had to do with the boycott and protests during the Bubble -- I'm hearing that Tilman Fertitta’s strong Republican support and donations is one of the things that is contributing to this dissatisfaction."

In 2017, Fertitta purchased the Rockets for $2.2 billion, and since then has not steered away from his support of Donald Trump. Along with Harden wanting to leave Houston, Russell Westbrook has expressed interest in wanting to leave Houston. Stay tuned for more details.
