Ice Bucket Challenge Creator Patrick Quinn Dies At Age 37


Patrick Quinn who co-created the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has died. He was 37.


Quinn passed away on Sunday after a 7-year-long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease this according to his official Facebook page.

Quinn was first diagnosed with ALS back in 2013.


A remembrance post read, “It is with great sadness that we must share the passing of Patrick early this morning”.


“He was a blessing to us all in so many ways. We will always remember him for his inspiration and courage in his tireless fight against ALS”.


Quinn is one of the co-creators of the ice bucket video challenge, which first took social media by storm in summer 2014.


While it was a viral sensation then, Quinn remained committed to the fight against ALS, starting the Quinn for the Win foundation and giving talks at schools and events locally in Westchester, but also across the country.


Since the ice bucket challenge’s inception, it has raised over $250 million worldwide.
