House Democrats have introduced a new, updated stimulus package on Tuesday (September 29), includes a second round of $1,200 stimulus checks.
Still being dubbed the HEROES Act, the proposal will also give $500 for every dependent, which would be exempt from being reduced or offset for past-due child support, unlike the first checks. They are also pushing for the second checks to be protected from garnishment, and would also be based on 2018 or 2019 federal tax returns.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has commented on the delays that some people saw in the first round of stimulus checks, and he stated that he could send them much faster this time, once the new legislation is signed. It's expected you'll receive your money fastest with direct deposit, but you can also choose to receive a physical check or prepaid EIP card.
