According to reports, a Florida man was accused of impersonating a police officer after trying to pull over an off-duty officer in Orlando. Omar Forde, 40, was arrested earlier this week for the incident that occurred in March where he pulled over a vehicle he thought was swerving due to an impaired driver. Forde, who works for a security company named "Criminal Task Force," which outfits him with a uniform very reminiscent of a police officer in addition to a vehicle resembling a police squad car.
"A citizen would mistake this all day for a law enforcement officer,” one of the Casselberry cops said to Forde following his arrest. Forde reportedly flagged down the off-duty cop and asked him to pull alongside him. When the off-duty cop asked was he being pulled over, Forde told the man to slow down. However, after the men pulled off, the off-duty cop got behind Forde and flashed his lights. The two men stopped farther down the road when the off-duty officer called 911.
Casselberry police Capt. William Nas said, “When [Forde] tried to stop [the officer], he could look over and see,” adding, “And since he’s a policeman himself, he knows about the uniforms and jurisdictions, and he knew it wasn’t a Casselberry or Seminole County or [state] trooper, so he called us right away to get this person stopped and questioned.”
Forde was charged with impersonating an officer and driving with a suspended license. He was released on bond and maintains he wasn't trying to impersonate an officer.
