he Drug Enforcement Agency announced its largest meth bust in United States history after confiscating $18.5 million worth of methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin during two recent drug trafficking investigations.
"These two seizures are more than enough to provide a dose of meth for every man, woman, and child in the United States and Mexico," said Timothy Shea, DEA acting administrator.
Narcotics detectives with the Fontana Police Department said they spotted the drugs being exchanged in duffle bags between cars in public spaces. The department claimed members of its DEA task force had been trailing the drug ring with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel since June.
Search warrants were served at two stash houses in Riverside County and resulted in the seizures of 2,224 pounds of meth, 893 pounds of cocaine, and 13 pounds of heroin.
During his press conference, Shea added, "The largest DEA domestic seizure of methamphetamine in history is a significant blow to the cartels, but more importantly, it is a gigantic victory for communities throughout Southern California and the United States who have had to deal with the torrent of methamphetamine coming into their neighborhoods."
