Jewish mother Chaya Bruck, was traveling from Orlando Florida back home to Brooklyn New York via Newark New Jersey with her six children when they were told to exit the Jet Blue flight.
Sources say that Chaya Bruck and her children were kicked off the flight because her two year old daughter wouldn't wear a face mask. Bruck pleaded with the flight attendants, assuring that the child will keep the mask on, but she believed the little girl was exempt. Claiming that her other five children were wearing masks, and Dina, the two year old was too young to wear one.
Bruck claims that this situation stemmed from when she and her children first boarded the flight ten days ago. Stating that the same flight attendant argued with her about her two year old daughter not wearing a face mask then. Bruck says, "The minute he saw me today, he recognized me,' Bruck said. 'I heard him tell the other stewardesses about me. They came over to me and told me my daughter was 3 years old, I told them she's 2...I know how old my child is, she's going to be 3 in September."
Upset passengers who were asked to exit the flight were able to film the interaction where Bruck is crying while asking the staff to let her stay on the plane and saying that she will make sure she keeps the mask on her two year old daughter.
"I can try, you do realize she's 2?" Bruck asked the air stewardess.
"I do and also its not something that we can excuse." the stewardess responds.
"So what should I do? Should I hold her hands?" Bruck asks, as she tries to get the mask on her crying daughter while the staff are telling her that it's too late and she must leave the plane.
Eventually, Bruck and her children exit the plane, where further disputing continues.
Bruck is heard arguing that the JetBlue website said that if a child is too young to wear a masks, then they don't have to. Unfortunately, the staff denied that the site says such a thing. However, according to the JetBlue website earlier on Wednesday, "small children who are not able to maintain a face covering are exempt from this requirement". About an hour after the incident, JetBlue updated their website, noting that "all travelers 2 years and older must wear a face covering over their nose and mouth throughout their journey".
In conclusion, Bruck and her children were stranded in Florida for the afternoon and Bruck's husband told sources that he now plans to retain a lawyer and will be filing a federal lawsuit against JetBlue.
