Former "The Chi" actor has landed a role to play the late Sean Bell in an upcoming biopic "50 Shots".
The film is based on Sean Bell, a 23 year old Queens, New York groom who was shot and killed by the police in November 2006 just hours before his wedding. For the murder, the family of Sean Bell received $7 million. However, three of the officers who were involved were excused of any wrongdoing.
Originally, Mitchell was cast to play an undercover cop, but once he read the script of the late Sean Bell, he landed the official role.
"50 Shots", which has been in the works for about three years with the help of the Bell family has credited actor Jason Mitchell as executive producer.
