14 men were indicted on federal charges for running a year-long drug ring in Harlem, which included selling over 280 grams of crack cocaine, according to authorities in New York.
Details of the operation, dubbed "Harlem Heat," was revealed in an indictment from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York on Thursday (December 3). The men are accused of dealing crack in Harlem around Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard between approximately 120th Street and 123rd Street from November 2019 through last month. One man was also charged with robbing someone at gunpoint who was attempting to buy narcotics and a gun on Nov. 3.
Acting Manhattan US Attorney Audrey Strauss addressed the arrests, stating, "As alleged in the Indictment, the defendants were responsible for selling large amounts of crack cocaine in Manhattan. Thanks to the extraordinary work of our partners at NYPD and HSI, the defendants now face federal charges for their crimes."
The men were revealed to be Kenneth Spearman, aka "Big Man," Sheldon Clark, aka "Sal," Eric Grant, aka "E," Sirron Stafford, aka "Sherm," Cameron Francis, aka "Cam," Isaiah Ledgister, aka 'Pooch," Tristian Oliver, aka "Jay," Joseph Campbell, aka "JoJo," Eric Gaston, Harvey Foster, aka "Fresh," Maurice Womack, aka "Moe," Reginald Claxton, aka "Dread," Lavelle Maitland, aka "Vee," and Ray Boyd, aka "Mustafa." Each was hit with the charge of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
